Color Matching: Combination of the colors of the furniture and the floor

Make sure your floor color is two shades lighter or much darker than the color of the furnishings. Flooring and furnishings of the same color and wood can be combined if you put a carpet in a different contrasting color between them. On a neutral floor, for example, natural oiled oak, do not be afraid to use dark wood furnishings such as wenge or walnut. Very attractive is the light furnishings with white varnish. Furnishings in light wood combined with light-colored walls and light-colored floors create a relaxed home atmosphere. This is a safe approach, but you may end up with a dull interior. Many simultaneous color tones can become monotonous.

What mood creates a particular floor color?

• Floors with yellowish beige color. The yellowish beige colors are warm, comfortable and create a sense of optimism. Floors with oak, beech or maple design make the darker room warmer.

• Red-orange floors These floors give a warm feel to the room. This color is often combined with stunning yellow accessories.

• Brown floors A brown color, especially for floors, points to our relationship with the earth. Compared with the walls, it must always remain in the background. Coffee is made up of many other colors, which means it can be combined with many other colors. Coffee is not a dull color. It is handy and suitable for different interiors, as long as the light in the room is enough and highlights the brown color. In some interiors, complementary colors for the floor and walls are combined to create contrast. In other cases, a combination of tones is preferred. Combining tones means combining dark and light shades of the same color. This can create very harmonious and calm effects, however, it can become monotonous.

How to combine colorful floors with walls and furnishings

Types of tropical wood produce very warm floors. For example, merbau, afzelia doussie, natural varnished Quick-Step teak etc. These types of wood are very lively and for this reason, it can be difficult to combine with the furniture and the lining of the wall.

Tip: Keep the walls warm and neutral, eg in off-white shades. This creates an attractive contrast to the floor. Do not overdo it with contrast effects and use at most one or two different colors.
